I noticed your message on the Denton genealogy forum of Genforum. First, I must say that I know nothing of any Dentons who were in India and cannot help you there. My Denton line remained in NY and NJ so far as I know. My ggg-grandparents were Susan Denton and Baldwin Pettit who married around 1833.
When I saw your name Pettit together with Bangalore, India, it hit me! My father came to Alabama from New York in 1927. His older sister, Isabel L. Pettit, born 03 May 1887, entered missionary work and sailed to Bangalore in 1924, returning to NY in 1926. Ten years later in 1936 she returned to Bangalore and remained there the rest of her life, dying there 04 May 1965. She loved India dearly and we have a number of photographs of her with Christian converts at some of the chapels in Bangalore. She visited NY briefly after World War II ended, but Dad never saw her again after he left NY in 1927. Her book was published in Boston in 1951: "India, Give Me Thine Heart" and it was republished January 2000 under the title "All For Jesus: The Christian Commitment of Subbu David" by The Christian Literature Society, Post Box 501, Park Town, Chennai-600 003. Aunt Isabel's address in Bangalore for many years was: 5 Cline Road, Cooke Town, Bangalore.
A year or two ago, I wrote to the above publisher in an effort to get someone to take a photograph of Aunt Isabel's gravesite and send it to me. I think she was buried in the European Cemetery.
I thought you might find this of interest. I take it that you were in Bangalore when you sent the message to Genforum.
