It is not uncommon to name children after brothers or uncles much less than the grandparents.

More than likely you are looking at the family tying point and not see it.<g> You may have to backup and do the "go around" method in some of the allied/collateral lines and work back into the area and timeline with the benefit of the wills and administration records and the land records that will show someone that you are not aware of in the families that will tie it altogether.

Remember that all of our ancestors left paper trails. All of them. We family genealogists just have to know where to look for that "paper trail".

Those early days have common threads when well to do families manage to keep the wealth in the families so that you will see those names appearing and reappearing in the lines. That was very common as late as the 1880`s.

I cannot tell you the many times I could not see the trees for the forest.<g> When I leave the search and come back to it later I see what my problem was all about.<GGG>

So do not be so hard on yourself. Keep up the good works.
