I have seen the entry for "Elizabeth Denton Cooper" in several places, and I know it to be apocryphal. I am a lineal Cooper descendant of Marcome Cooper and Sarah Juliet Jackson. Elizabeth Denton was NOT their daughter. The confusion, I believe, came when Margaret White Cooper -- daughter of Littleberry White and Elizabeth Denton -- married John D. Cooper -- who IS a child of Marcome and Sarah Cooper. So, Elizabeth Denton's daughter married Marcome Cooper's son and became their daughter-in-law. A mention in a will probably careated the confusion. We have been trying to identify Elizabeth Denton's family, and it is a mystery. We know she was born 1755-1765 in Nash County, North Carolina, and married Littleberry White [who was a Revolutionary War Soldier] in Nash County in 1774. She was his second wife. Another mystery in the family is that Margaret White Cooper is said to have been first cousin to President William Henry Harrison; when she moved to Missouri, his sisters knitted her a pair of stockings, which she kept to be buried in. If anybody out there can provide any clues of that relationship, I would be greatful.
