Is there any evidence out there as to the parents of SHIPMAN DENTON. FACT: Shipman DENTON was born in TN about 1804. There are articles of him being elected in 1836 to the police board in Holly Springs, Marshall Co., Mississippi. He appears on the 1840 Marshall Co., MS Census. HEARSAY: Some say his father is Benjamin DENTON who died in Marshall Co MS. Some have mentioned a will dated 11 Nov 1843 and the will is located in the Archive Box # 559 in the Holly Springs Court House in Marshall Co., MS. Shipman DENTON is supposely appointed as executor of the will. It supposely mentions a Jane Denton as the beneficiary & wife of Benjamin DENTON. FACT: on the 1850 Census DREW CO ARK Bartholomew Township it has: 206-206 Page 89: Shipman DENTON 46 M TN with his wife Sarah and family. 207-207 Page 89: Ozias DENTON 20 M TN and his wife Angeline & family 228-228 Eli STONE 34 M TN and his wife Elizabeth and Jane DENTON 80 F TN (Is this the mother of Elizabeth???) Shipman DENTON appears on the 1860 Drew Co ARK Census Collins Township. Eli STONE and Elizabeth appear on the 1860 Census in Drew Co ARK Bartholomew Township. I have NOT seen the will only heard about it and jotted down the info in reference to the Archive Box # 559. Does ANYONE know of a such will?????? I have a friend checking out the Holly Springs Courthouse for the will. She lives in Holly Springs. So if the will is there she will find it. Does anyone know who the Jane DENTON WF 80 TN is on the 1860 Census with Eli and Elizabeth STONE???? She would be born about 1770 and remember back in those days parts of Tennessee were in those days in NC. I have HEARD that her maiden name was Sarah Jane SHIPMAN (Unproven)....
