I am the great-great-grandson of William James Dent, who was born circa 1820. My father has a family Bible record of his marrying my ancestress Frances Liles in 1844. Their daughter Lucinda Martha Dent was born in Alabama on June 15, 1852. She married my great-grandfather Hugh M. Ledbetter.
I believe that William James Dent was an officer in the Confederate States of America's military during the War Between the States based on statements made by my late grandfather.
I have wondered if William James Dent is a descendnat of George Dent, who settled in Georgia after the Revolutionary War, because George Dent apparently had many descendants in Alabama in the 1800s.
Any information anyone has re: William James Dent will be greatly appreciated.
