The only connection I know with Ireland, apart from 14th century kings justices in the medieval records, is the burial of one John Dent in 1749 at Romaldkirk in Teesdale, North Riding of Yorkshire. He is described as from Startforth (a neighbouring village), but "late from Ireland".

I'll keep my eyes open for any other references, however.
