I've been having a long break from the research side of things - but my DENTS are from Bottesford, Leics UK. I've just spent the last few hours reading all the past postings on the site and was amazed how many UK DENT lines there being researched - especially from my neck of the Woods.
One thing I noted with great interest were the amt of ppl from Aussieland (I'm in Brisbane). Not sure if anyone has tracked their DENT line to Toowoomba, Qld. A Joseph DENT I think it was married a 'foundling' from the Women's Factory in Melbourne and they moved to Toowoomba. They proceeded to have 17 (!!!) children. The interesting point with this line is that they were the cause of a huge medical trial conducted at the Greenslopes Veteran Hospital in Brisbane. It appears either the DENT line or the wife's line carry a rather nasty gene that attacks the heart. We contacted the Professor who was conducting the tests and having a fair bit of info on the DENTS I provided him with that information and then *ugh* we had to be blood tested ourselves. Thankfully we were clear and that proved to him we were not of the Lincolnshire lines.
I can remember that the person pushing hard for the testing was a Mrs Shirley KETTLE from the Gold Coast.
Sadly this horrible heart condition kills even young children and adults - death is very fast and I gather untreatable. However, if it is known you carry the gene they can give medication.
I have no contact details other then we had to go to Greenslopes and there were a number of large articles in the Courier Mail. The primary article was a front page if memory serves and approx 10yrs ago.
