I found a newspaper article that says John C. Stinger had a pass written by US Grant to sell newspapers along the lines during the Civil War. It also said that John was related to Julia Dent Grant. His grand nephew Scotty Stinger was stated to be the great grandson of Julia Dent's sister. Does anyone know how the relationship goes? John Stinger's parents were Isaiah Stinger and Harriet Miller.
