Another Caton researcher, Julie Spencer, sent me the information about Thomas Dent being the uncle of John Dent. That Thomas's will was executed in 1690, proven in 1708, according to some notes that she received from another researcher who cited MD Archives Vol 13 p 241; Vol 15 p 256-326, Vol 17 p 379; Vol 20. p 138-206; Vol 23 p 18 The MD Dents p 107-13 I haven't seen the original will, or even the citation. I have found a Thomas Dent who is sheriff of St Mary's Co, MD in 1664 (through the MD Archives), and who could be the same guy with the will above. Apparently there's a Thomas Dent who claimed land rights in 1663 for having transported John Dent to Maryland in about 1658. There's no proof of what the relationship was, and people have speculated uncle, brother... The early Dents have been written up a lot, but I don't think that the primary sources have been examined very closely in recent years. There seems to be a lot of misinfo, or at least guesses out there. good luck, and let me know if you find Rebecca's parents, ok? (kidding...) Notify Administrator about this message?
