Dent Family of AL, GA and possibly of SC

Hi!

My 2nd gr grandmother was Lucinda Elizabeth Dent; she married William Merida Carr. I have traced her to Joseph Dent. I have definite census info on that family being in Jackson County, AL in 1830, 1840 and 1850. Joseph had a son named Thomas Lewis. He married Betsy Williams and they had my 2nd gr grandmother. Thomas moved the family to southern Illinois in the 1850s.

Now, my problem. Joseph is my brick wall in the Dent family. The census indicates that he was born in GA. However, none of us in this family have had any luck tracing the family into Georgia. Today, I just found an entry in the 1820 Lexington SC census containing a Joseph Dent. The age for head of household matches Joseph Dent's age. Does anyone out there know anything about this family? Below is my family homepage:

Thanks for any help!
