On Putnam County GA tax lists of 1812-15 I found the following mention of the Dent surname. 1812-Town District (Eatonton is the town) Saml Dent paying 12 polls, owning 202 1/2 ac. on the Little River, and one two wheel carriage for a total tax paid of $4.81. 1815-Capt. William E. Adams District Thomas Dent paying 8 polls, owning 398 1/2 acres on the Oconee (nearest waterway), two tracts 84 ac. & 83 1/2 ac. in Putnam County on the Little River and 185 acres in Wilkinson County on the Oconee for a total tax paid of $4.10 1/4 (there is another figure of 32 1/? to the left of this amount which is confusing). 1815-Capt. Jacob Gimbles District Samuel Dent paying 14 polls, owning 202 1/2 acres on the Crooked River, amount paid ? It should be noted that in 1812 Jacob Gimble was listed on the same page of the tax list with Saml Dent. 1817-Capt. Jessy Little's District Thomas Dent paying 11 polls and owning same tracts of land in Putnam & Wilkinson County as noted in 1815. Amount paid not noted. CA Notify Administrator about this message?
