Searching for information re: my great grandfather and his family. William Oldfield (2), born in Hoboken, New Jersey on 11 Sep 1857. His father was also William Oldfield (1) born in Ireland in 1833 and his mother's maiden name was Anna (?) or Irma (?)Densmore and she was born in Ireland in 1838. On the 1860 Hoboken Census, the following information is provided : William Oldfield (1) is listed as having the occupation of "printer". William (1) and Anna (Irma?) had 2 children, Ann and William (2). In 1860, Ann was 3 years old and William (2) was 2 years old. Also, next door to this family, it appears is William's (1) wife's family of M? Densmore (female and head of house) with 5 children: Eliza age 20 (born abt 1840), Ellen age 17 (born about 1843), Sarah age 19 (born about 1841), Ruth age 16 (born abt 1844), and John age 24 (born abt 1836). All of these children were born in Ireland, as well.

Later, in the 1880 census of NY, NY there is a William Oldfield born in 1838 (5 years later than my William (1)), this 1880 census William was also born in Ireland and is also a printer just like my William (1). However, if this is my William (1), he has a different family. This William Oldfield of NY, NY is listed as age 42 in 1880 (born abt 1838), his wife's name is Mary and she's 29 (born abt 1851), they have 5 children Ellen age 11 (born abt 1869), Eliza age 8 (born abt 1872), George age 5 (born abt 1875), Anna age 3(born abt 1879) and John age 5 months (born 1880). The very interesting thing is the strong family resemblance to William (1)Oldfield and Anna Densmore's family. Note that each family has an Eliza, Ellen, John for children. And, NY, NY William also named a child Anna.

There is such strong similarities to these families. I wonder if something may have happened to William (1) first wife Anna and then possibly he remarried a woman 13 years younger and began a new family? There must be a connection. Does ANY part of this sound remotely familiar to anyone? All help is appreciated and I have other census, certificate information to share if this does sound familiar to anyone.
