Hi Robert,
Thanks for the reply to my posting. It certainly is of interest to me to be in touch with any Dennis or Reilly from Drogheda.
I think this is the longest I have waited for a reply to a posting. Previously the longest I had waited was 5 years but it was certainly worth it then and I'm sure it could be the same here.
Since that last posting I have discovered a little more about my great grandparents and their family.If I list what I know then that may help you to decide if you can see any connections with anything you, or your family, may know.
From records at St.Peters Catholic Church,I have learnt from the parish helper Ann that;
1855 Owen Reilly married Margaret Johnson,witness;Wm.Pentony and Mary Flanagan
1856 James Reilly born (My great grandfather)
1857 Mary Reilly born
1859 Stephen Reilly born
1872 James Reilly married Julia Dennis. Witness;
Nicholas Woods and Eliza Furnin/Durnin
1873 RoseAnn Reilly born. Sponsors Thomas Powderly and Eliza Durnin.
1878 Margaret Alice Reilly born.Address given as Greenhills.Sponsor Mary Dowdall.
The rest of the 13 children were born here in Blackburn, Lancashire, England.
I have included the witness and sponsors names in case they are related in some way and may provide a clue. If you can ask your Granny she may (or not) know of some links either to your family or others in Drogheda. I have replied to the board as well as sending a personal email because it may help others if they do a name search on the boards. That's how I have found out information in the past.
Hoping for some links and wishing you all the best,
Mike Magee, Blackburn, Lancashire, England.
