I have been trying to research Dennington or Denington for several years. My dad was 1 of 8 children and they were split 4-4 on the spelling. My grandfather spelled it both ways. His brother was adamant about using the 2-n's. Anyway, I have been stymied at my great grandfather. He was James Polk Dennington, born 8 Jun 1841. I don't know where. Family rumor has NC but census records indicate
TN. He married Elizabeth Newhouse Owens on 28 Jan 1869 in Weakley County, TN. They had 7 children, I think: William Thomas (my Gfather), Edward, Louis, Leslie, Katherine, Maude, and Elizabeth. He died 29 Sep 1931 in Melber, KY, and was buried in Fulton, KY.
If anyone in your lineage did, or even could have, had a son born when he was, I would really appreciate the info. I have reached nothing but dead ends to this point.
