Dennington Family Genealogy Forum

I am searching for anyone researching Denningtons. Have yet to find one person that is. My GG Grandmother was MARY DENNINGTON born abt. 1825. I believe from Census records that she is the daughter of a John DENNINGTON that is in Pickens Co. early on. He has a daughter that matches her age. MARY married THOMAS BROOME, who was the son of Mark and Mary Broome. He was first married to Mary Reed. In 1800 Laurens Co. District, S.C. appears William Dennington who has 2 males in the house hold 26-45 yrs. of age.In 1820 Pickens co. census is just a "Mr. Dennington" age 26-45 years of age. In 1830 Pickens Co. census there are the following: William Dennington 20/30 years of age, and John Dennington also 2/30 years of age he has one daughter under 5 and 1 5-10 years of age and this could be MARY. In 1840 appears only John Dinington who is 60/70 years of age. Then in 1850 appears William Dennington 80 yrs. of age born in Ireland and Elizabeth Dennington age 75 born in S.C. only in the 1860 census records she indicates she was born in Va., age 95 yrs. and living with Sarah Burkett age 70. There is also an Elizabeth Dennington's obituary, year 1873 I have from the Keowee Courier of Pickens co. that give her as the oldest woman in the county being 109 years of age. I wonder if the John Denington fo 1840 that is 60/70 yrs of age is the same man as William who is 80 in 1850. I think they may have been my Mary's grandparents. In 1850 the John Dennington that was 20 to 30 years of age in the 1830 Pickens Co., S.C. census appears in Jackson Co., Ga. as 46 yrs. of age with a wife Rachel who is 42. They have Amanda, Emeliy, William , Richard W., Margaret, Martha, and Benjamin F. in the house hold, If Mary is thier daughter she was back in Pickens Co. living in the household of a Jane Looney. Mary in 1850 was 25 years of age. If you can help me put these people together please do. Thank you so much. Karen Thompson Ledford/Toccoa, Ga./Stephens Co.
