Denney family in Iowa/Nebraska 1890s- John Denney born 1898

Hey all,

I'm looking for information on John Denney (or Denny) born in about 1898 in Nebraska. He married Frances May Ballard in about 1928, lived in Iowa in 1930, and had a son, Melville Eugene, in 1930. He was a veteran of the world war, but I haven't been able to find him in war records. His father was from Iowa and his mother was from Illinois.

I managed to find a John M Denney from Nebraska in 1898 and lived in Washington, but the age at first marriage and place of birth of the parents are different. This John Denney had a father named Roy and lived in Washington for a period of time. John is listed as married to someone named Mary Annie, although the 1930 census that I know is correct lists is first marriage as to Frances Ballard in 1928. It also lists his father's birthplace as Nebraska and his mother's as Washington DC, which also goes against the 1930 census. This is the closest match that I've been able to find for him in pre-1930 records, and am unsure if these differences indicate that it isn't him.

If you're also researching John Denney, let me know. Or if you just have advice on where to go from here, I'd appreciate that as well. Just reply to the message. I'm not adding my email address to avoid spam.
