My great grandfather John Denner was born in Portland, Dorset c 1866 and he was a seaman in the Royal Navy. He married Rose Chivers in 1894 and they had Doris, my grandmother, John and Gordon. His father was also called John and was a prison warder. Her father was Francis Chivers and was also a prison warder. Rose was a school mistress. Are they part of your family?
