I know very little about my father's side of the family.
We go by the name Denahy and I'm almost certain we originally hailed from County Cork.
My grandfather, Bill Denahy's grandfather (I believe) was one of 3 brothers, of which I know little other than he came to America in the mid 1800's to go out for the gold rush, I don't know how well he did or how much family came with him but I think he had a bar in the Oakland area.
Back in Ireland I know of no blood relations but do know our family or at least my great grandfather had something to do with the building of a church.
Does anybody know of any Denahy's that came to America for gold?
I'm not sure whether the name was originally Denahy or if the spelling changed when they came to America.
I have a few cousins in Arizona and a few here in NY that go by the surname Quinn.
Any information that will lead me back to some family connection in Ireland would be appreciated.
