Thomas, William, and Jacob in January 1772, were assigned to lay off road from Tate's Ferry to Charleston Road. The old Charleston Road is about the same as the Poor's Ford Road in Rutherford and Polk Counties NC today. Naturally, this road ran on through SC to Charleston in 1772. This Road they were assigned to lay out would likely be in SC today but was in the disputed lands between NC/SC in Tryon County in 1772. John Dennard owned land on Broad River at what is now Poor's Ford during the Revolutionary War. John Studman sold 100 acres formerly belonging to John Dennard on Hensons Creek of Broad River 11 July 1817. This was probably the location of what was Denard's Ford in 1780.
