Michael Dennany, Reynolds, Cavanaugh
I'm searching for ancestors of Lucy Beatrice Reynolds, b. Carrick-on-Shannon, 12 May 1839; parents John and Anne Reynolds; brother James H. Reynolds, b. about 1820. He emigrated to America at the age of twenty-two. (Lucy and James may be cousins to the Gills.) In 1858 Lucy and her nephew Michael Dennany joined James H. in America. In 1866 Lucy married James Cavanaugh. James Cavanaugh was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1840, and immigrated to America with his mother, his father having died when he was a mere infant. He and his mother first located in Cincinnati, Ohio, where James was reared and educated. Here he also learned the tanner's trade, which he followed for
many years. In 1861, he enlisted in the Civil War, serving in Company I,
Sixty-sixth Indiana Volunteer Infantry, until the close of hostilities. He
was with General Sherman on his march to the sea and was mustered out in 1865. He then located in Washington County, Indiana. Lucy and her husband James Cavanaugh and her brother James Reynolds are buried in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetary, Salem, IN, USA.
