Hi again J

Ah-ha! That explains why I have Thomas Splan m Elizabeth Weston coming up in two different generations! (As my maternal line has another such pairing, I was beginning to wonder if there were transcription errors!)

As noted in my reply to your previous helpful note: the alleged Danish connection is definitely the Splans. We have a good mix of origins: English, Irish, Scots, French, and possibly Welsh, so Danish would have been a nice addition!

Oddly enough, when I first attempted to trace the Splan/Denmark link in about 1999, one person from the States replied saying they'd traced a Splan link via a US entry point (New York?) where the immigration official had shortened a longer Danish name to Splan. Unfortunately I have not been able to find that posting in the archives. 8-(

Thanks again for your replies.

Best wishes from New Zealand -
De
