Hi Flemming,
Thank you so much! I can't believe how much you've managed to find - you make me feel like an amateur (which I am)!

I was shocked to see that he had committed suicide! I had wondered why his brother (my gg grandfather) left Denmark for the US in 1879 when he was well into his 50's, so perhaps this tells part of the story.

One question - where did you find the info that he had hanged himself? Was it listed in the parish register? I'd be very interested to see the original document, if that's where it's from.
