In Denmark men have to do military service and many serve in the Royal Life Guard. Frederik may have served his time in the army in this unit.
You can look this information up in the military rolls, but these are not online, so you will have to go to a family history center to find this information.
Many young couples moved from rural areas to Copenhagen in this period, so it is not unlikely that they moved to Copenhagen prior to emmigrating to USA.
It should be quite easy to find at least a couple of generations of Frederik and Frederikke's ancestors if you are interested.
