My gggrandfather was William Denham. He married Sissy Blackman in Zebulon, Ga. abt.1869. They had one son James Denham.
William left them when James was old enough to buy his first suit. Rode away on his mule and went to Macon, Ga. My mother says when he was dying, he sent for James and wanted to give him all the land and money he had accumalated, but James wouldn't take it saying he never gave him anything when he was growing up and he didn't want it now. Sissy and James went by her maiden name (Blackman) after he left them.
