1/1/2010: We had a Royland/Roland in our family who died in 1876, the first son of Reuben/Rubin Denham and spouse, Abigal/Abigail (Warn/e) of Iowa and New York, and Minnesota. Reuben b. 1837 Iowa was the son of Hezekiah Stout Denham 1802-TN--1886-IA, and spouse, Winny Little or Littell, b. 1/1/1803. I believe that Royland was 18 when he passed away from a flu bug. The Littles lived in Rowan county, N.C., but Hezekiah S. Denham supposedly had parents from Virginia or Kentucky. Have you heard about the "Denham-Melungeon" group of people who are supposedly a combination of European, Portugese, Native American, African, and Barbados. It is quite intersting to read and see the family pictures of the White-Mulatto families. Our family are caucasian, but I can't find anything more about my Denham's prior to 1802, and wonder if they actually lived in or near Sneedville, or Neuman's Ridge, because at that time they felt like outcast by the White British or Dutch people. I'm English, Irish, Welsh, Scotch, Swedish and French on my dad's side. They do have a male Y chroma, with 37 checks to see which branch of the Denham's I'm related to for $149.00. Haven't done it yet. Hope I have helped with more info. Rosalie (turtle4u@q.com)
