George Washington Denham, GA & AL, 1867-1953

Looking for info on George Washington Denham b. 15 Jan 1867 in GA d. 9 Nov 1953 in Baldwin County, AL. He was first married to a D. Smith, and that's who I'm descended from, but I'm not sure of her exact name. His second wife was a woman named Repsey Parker, I believe.

As for his first wife (Smith), I've seen her name listed as Debarah, Deberra, Deborra, Deborah, and a nickname of "Dank." My family says her name was pronounced like "da-bore-ah" with the emphasis on the "bore" syllable. She was born in GA. They were married in Troup County, GA on 22 Sep 1889. They had a number of children, including John Jackson, Tola Bell?, Allen Newton, Addie Mae, Annie Pearl, Stella (my great-grandmother), Mary Nancy, Clara Rata, and William Marion. I am stuck at D. Smith. Could anyone provide information on the Smiths?

I am also uncertain of my great-grandmother's (Stella) middle name. I've been told it was Deborra(sp?) like her mother, but I've also seen O'Dell. The middle initial on her headstone is "E." and according to the Florida Death Index, it's "U." Any help here is appreciated, also.

Thanks,
Angela
