In May 1789 Hugh DENNUM of Surry Co. NC wrote a will mentioning wife Elizabeth, sons-in-law Isaac CLEMONS and Stephen CLEATON, and grandsons Hugh CLEMONS and Stephen and John CLEATON. Hugh and Elizabeth's two implied daughters were Mary DENNUM (b. abt. 1737), who married Stephen CLAYTON, Jr. and Ann DENNUM (b. 1742), who married Isaac CLEMENT. Hugh's will was proved Nov 1789 and recorded in Surry Co. Will Book 2, p. 94. A transcription of the will may be seen at

Some World Connect sites spell Hugh's name DENHAM and say that his wife was Elizabeth LUSK. Does anyone know of any evidence that wife Elizabeth really was a LUSK?
Hugh DENNUM had been an early settler in the Dan River area of Rowan Co., the portion which later became Surry Co. and then Stokes Co. NC, and is just south of Pittsylvania Co. VA, where Hugh's son-in-law Isaac CLEMENT was living at the time. In addition to a son Hugh, Isaac CLEMENT had a son Stephen CLEMENT, whose 1850 Pittsylvania Co. will mentioned a daughter Ann D THOMPSON (D for Denham, per Clement family sources).
