I kinda live in the library - I'm a book addict and I found that Deney can be spelt "De Ney" or "De Neys" (DeNyes). On some Census's I have found the DE dropped and the Ney and Neys has become the new varient. It is also known that "TE NEYCK" or TeNeyck/Deneyck is another varient because the "T" was pronounced as a "D". Plus the surname DANA / DANY is another varient spelling. My family has spelt it Dana Dany and Denny Denney to its present form Deney. But I did find land grants of my grt grt grandfather who did spell it DENEY on documents. The Census takers have done a great injustice to us researchers, and please don't be surprised if you find the name listed as Deeny or Dean(e)+(y). good luck everyone Notify Administrator about this message?
