Hiram "Hyrum" Dempsey. b/ May 4, 1857, Logan County VA/WV, m. Mary Celia Smoot, b.abt 1856, Tazewell County VA, on Dec. 19, 1879, Lenore, Logan (Mingo) County WV. Celia was the daughter of Charles Smoot and Frances Greever. Hiram was the son of William Anderson "Ance" Dempsey and Mahula "Huldie" Blair of Logan County VA/WV. William Anderson was the son of Joseph Dempsey and Alena Vance, Logan County. Joseph was the son of John William Dempsey and Rachel Solomon, Logan County and Botetourt County VA. John William was the son of William Dempsey and (?), Botetourt County, VA. There is some confusion over who William was married to: Jane Dubartis, (?) Gulliver, or (?) Meadows.
