James Dempsey was born in North Carolina in 1865 and had Willie
Dempsey, Sr. who was married to Minnie (Cherry) Dempsey and they had:
Percy, Willie (3/27/14), LeVern, Bessie, Edmond, Evelyn.
I am a descendent of Willie and Emma (10/1/17)(Battle) Dempsey from Whitakers,
and Battleboro, NC. To this union was born Lillian Dempsey (9/11/34),
Carolyn Dempsey (2/22/44); Melvin J. Dempsey (1/15/48), Larry
Dempsey (me) (10/22/49); Jerome Dempsey (4/10/51) and
Wilhelmina Dempsey (10/23/52). Willie and Emma were married
on May 27, 1933 in Emporia, VA. The Dempsey family settled in Washington, DC.
