John J. Dempsey and 2 brothers

John Dempsey came to America circa 1835 with two brothers, names unknown. They split up and John settled in Greer, SC. One of the other two brothers is said to be the grandfather of the famous Jack Dempsey. I don't know where in Ireland they came from, or any parent names. If this story rings a bell with anyone, please let me know. If any descendent of Jack Dempsey can debunk that part of the story, please let me know that too.
