William's father was Perry Dempsey (b. 1822), of Gallia County, Ohio. His Mother was Sarah Hall, of Noble Co, Ohio. Her parents were William and Lucy Hall.
William's siblings were
Emma Ann, b. 1845, Ft Wayne, Ind.; Lucy Jane, b 1847, Noble Co, Ind; William born 1848, Noble Co; Lydia Amaretta, b 1852, Noble Co; Eugene, b 1857, Noble Co. The family moved to Iowa in 1864.

I think that Perry's father came from Jackson Co, Ohio, and his mother, Jane Cahoon, came from Virginia. E-mail for more information.
