Jan, thank you for posting all that information about Jack Dempsey's ancestors! My mother-in-law believes she may be related to the boxer, and I'm wondering if you or anybody else on this list might be able to help me make a connection.

Virigina JENKINS (nee ODA) is the daughter of Charles ODA and Alice Alma HENSELY; Alice was the daughter of William HENSLEY and Laura DEMPSEY (b. abt 1875 in Mingo County, WV). It is through Laura DEMPSEY that Virginia would be related to Jack, if the story is true.

If anybody can help me prove or disprove this connection or if you have any information regarding Laura DEMPSEY, please contact me.
