We have an Elvin P. Dempsey that married Luisa Hooper(Louisa)on Aug. 30, 1877 in Gordon County Georgia. Elvin is the son of Porter Dempsey that moved from Spartanburg District SC between 1846 and 1850 to Cass County GA. His grandfather was Moses Dempsey, found in the 1790 thru 1820 Orangeburg SC Census.

We feel that our Gordon County Dempseys may be related to the Barnett Dempsey Clan, but have not been able to prove it. If you can offer any help it will be appreciated.
