Lawrence Dempsey was the father of my ggf. His son immigrated to American, met and married Anne Delaney in Baltimore, MD in Catholic church there. They had four children but two died in early childhood. The couple separated. Lawrence Leo Dempsey stayed with his mother Anne. Catherine was placed with a "friend" by her father (no further contact by father). Prior to the separation her father had worked for the railroad but was injured and couldn't work. Catherine went to school in Baltimore, tells of the many charitable works done by the woman with whom she lived, i.e., washing, clothing and feeding many of the children who were in the streets while parents worked. Catherine finished school and while visiting with school friends in Norfolk, VA met and married Milton Clyde Sawyer. She had twelve children and died in April 1993 in Norfolk.eaglet@pinn.net
