My Great grandfather was Bartholemew (Bat) Dempsey, who had a farm in Ballyfeard,CO.Cork.
My Dempseys are all from Minane Bridge, Tracton, Belgooley, and Kisale. Bat's 1st wife, Mary O'Connell was my greatgrandmother. His second wife was a Mrs. Deasy who ran Mrs. D's in Kinsale (now the Blue Haven). Her son Willie ran local cab company. Bat's sister Mary was Bertie Ahern's great-grandmother. As far as I know, Bat had 3 daughters and 3 sons; Ellen (my grandmother who married my grandfather,Patrick Murphy of Ballgarvan), Mollie, John, Maurice, Daniel Louis, who moved to Youghal (son Bertie runs Bertie's Pub), and Christine, who married Frank O'Driscoll and lived on the Glasheen Road in Cork City. My grandmother ran the Murphy shop on Hanover Street in Cork City until 1967. There are many Dempsey relatives in Tracton & Minane Bridge. The Aherns are all relatives of ours too. Many of them to be found in Belgooly. I will be in Ireland for four weeks starting 2/17. Would love to meet Long Lost Cousins. I'm buying! Would like to find graves of Bat , his wife mary, and Mrs. D, info on Bats and Mary's parents, and info on my granduncles John and maurice.
