Jim, I believe we are related. My great=grandfather was Michael Dempsey of Pittston, PA. My father said we had Dempsey relatives in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and Pittston. Michael arrived in the US at the age of 14 in 1853 arriving in Boston and walking to Pa to work in the mines. He married in Pittston and had 6 girls, 4 of whom lived into adulthood. My grandmother, Hannah Dempsey married George Sweeney and the lived in Elmhurst, NY. I believe Bridget Dempsey of Scranton was Michael's sister and their parents were Catherine and Harry Dempsey.
Additionally I believe there is a connection with the Fords and Costellos in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
