Hello,
I'm researching my Grandma's Dempsey line. The first Dempsey to come to America in her line was Samuel Dempsey b. 1775 in Ireland. He and his wife settled in Virginia first. They had a son Samuel Dempsey b. July 21, 1798 in VA. Is Jack Dempsey the fighter related to this line? My mom and dad always wondered if he was.
Samuel jr. must have lived in OH for awhile because their first five children were born in Columbiana, OH. My Grandma's Grandpa Albert Dempsey was one of Samuel's sons. Albert was born Feb. 8, 1826 in Ohio. Samuel's last seven children were born in Venango, PA.
If any of this makes sense and ties us to Jack Dempsey let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.
