Thanks so much for the quick reply. Asher Hinman's son, George b. Pittsfield, MA, was my grandfather (by his son, Edward Henry, b. Westfield, MA 1899/mother Martha Cronin b. in Bennington, VT). This all started in my quest to find George's son (George Asher, b. 1890, Winsted,CT?? d. Rochester,NY) by Harriett Burden, his first wife. We know he moved to Rochester around 1909, but he was never heard from again. (I have other messages on the board concerning him). A gentleman from Rochester replied to one of those and JUST YESTERDAY, I made calls to Pittsfield and Canton,CT and discovered the connection you mention. After years of talking about my Deming roots, I've finally found them. Now I need to get over to New Hartford and see if that's where George A. was born ... Winsted and New Hartford were probably "lumped" together at one time. I didn't find any vital records for him in Winsted (birthplace listed on military records), soooo I'll follow up on that within the next few days. The "Rochester relative" sent me basically the same info in an e-mail that arrived with the same message from you! I'm glad this info. is in the Deming Genealogy because the Canton Town Hall (Collinsville) had a fire around 1930 and they have no records preceeding that date!
Thanks again ... I have a feeling we'll be chatting again, Chris
