I don't know anything about Catherine Guy, except that the Guy family were neighbors of Elizabeth's in 1850.I don't have any additional information on Charles S.I can send info on Benjamin if you'd like to email me your mailing address. The only additional information I have on William is that he served with Benjamin in the 2nd Maryland Regiment during the Civil War.
There are definitely ties between this family and the Bryans Road Dement's (Charles Fendley/Elizabeth Bryan). Two additional witnesses at the lunacy hearing for John H's wife Ann were Dr. R.K. Compton (husband of Rachel, daughter of Richard) and Alexander M. Bryan (son of Sarah Ann, daughter of Richard). In addition I read a statement somewhere in a book on Capt. William F. Dement that he had served in the Civil War with 5 of his cousins and I mentioned before that Benjamin F & John H both served in the 1st Maryland.Unfortunately I didn't make a note of where I read that.
I've also seen the abstract of the tax sale in 1852 of land owned by the heirs of John Edward Dement.Unfortunately I have not looked for a deed for further info. I have a general index to Charles County Deeds - dates 1655 to 1899 that indicates the only deed filed in 1852 was from Charles F. to Frederick Stone.Maybe it would be a good idea for me to check that one out.
I'm also a great-great-granddaughter of Richard A. Dement, my great-grandfather was James Edward who would have been Lydia's brother.I'm so glad to have some else researching this line!
