I cannot answer your specific question but thought you might like some tidbits about Asa. In the 1850 census, he is in the Sevier Co. census with his second wife, Caroline Hamill. He and first wife, Rebecca Cunningham joined the Ellijoy Baptist Church here in Maryville in 1833. In 1845 they joined the Stock Creek Baptist. He had been put out of Ellijoy for "coverting with the primitive Baptists. He was ordained in 1848 as a preacher and in 1855 was called to the Cade's Cove Primitive Baptist. He also had children James @ 1843 and Robert @1845. Asa is one of my husband's ancient grandfathers. His daughter Rebecca (By Caroline) married George Washington Kile of Monroe County.
