Hi List, I received this tonight from a felllow named 'Frank'??. I have included my reply in hopes that some of you might be able to offer some insight. Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't seem to find him on the list. This is the first solid lead I have had in 20 years of being at a dead end of my genealogical research! I DO have a record of a Matilda Ann DeLorey born October 15th, 1847 in Western Shore, Lunenburg County and was christened on Dec. 12, 1847. She was the daughter of John DeLorey and Maria Rafuse. John and Maria were married by banns at St. Stephen's (Anglican) Church, Chester by Rev. James Shreive, on February 9, 1847. The witnesses were George Rafuse and Esther Hutt. John DeLorey ( Matilda Ann's father) was my Great Great Great Grandfather and his father and place of birth are what I have been looking for these many years. The names John and Maria's other children were: John Norman Nov 5, 1849 ( "Seaman...moved to USA) Margaret Jan 15, 1842 (Known as "Aunt Meg') (Joshua) Allen Oct 22, 1854 (My Great Great Grandfather) Marthina May 19, 1857 ( Known as "Aunt Teen") Lavinia ?????? 1859 Austin ?????? 1862 (Drowned--ship "GilbertWalters" 1892) Matilda Ann Oct. 15, 1847 (Is this your wife's great granny?) Sophia ??????? ???? These all come from the Parish records of St. Stephen's, Chester, but she wasn't living with the John DeLorey Family according to the census of 1871. So, it seems that she moved from Lunenburg County to where ?before that time. That would make her about 23 to 24 years old. I have other information as well including some of their marriages and dates of death if you would like it. As you might have seen on the DeLorey genealogy Forum, I have been looking for a link for a long time, so any information that you or your wife might have would be of particular interest to me. I think that John (Matilda Anne's Father) might have been born around 1819 and have a baptismal record for a John DeLorey christened at Christchurch in Dartmouth on March 11, 1820. I don't even know if this is the right guy. Have you posted this to the genealogy forum? It might spark some debate or tweak some recognition by somebody. Where did she marry Alonzo Schofield and where did she spend her life? Where do you live? Thanks again for contacting me. Any bit of information is very helpful.
