Hi Lorraine,
No, I do not live near Minnesota, I'm in Ohio. From what I've been able to determine, my branch of the family (two brothers) settled in Ohio; two of their sisters settled in Philadelphia but only one of them had children; one brother and one sister stayed in Germany. I've made connections with descendants of the brother's family in Germany.
Going back another generation (to birthdates about 1790) there was a brother named Fritz (probably Frederick) who settled in Homburg (not Hamburg). The last known of him was that he had two daughters. So it looks to me like connections between my family and other German Dell families in the US would be no earlier than that.
I'd love to hear some more about your family line.
