They remained in Montreal. To this union was born seven children:Peter Lerette---------- born July 20 1846 died July 24 1846 Eliza Marie Lerette---born Sept 14 1851 died Dec 27 1853 Louis Denis Lerette- born Oct 3 1847 died Sept 24 1854 Mary ----Married a Mr. Finger Margeret--Married a Mr Gundy These two sisters had a double wedding and moved to the United States. Charles Angus We dont know what happened to Charles or Angus. Eliza Marie (Delisle) Lerette wrote to her sister Mary Melena Celeste (Delisle) Farough on July 3, 1855 on a small square of paper a margin was drawn around the outside, with three little trees drawn in the margin. A little cross was hanging on each tree . In the center was the names ,births and deaths of the three children above and a note " Remember your brothers and sisters" sighned Eliza Marie Lerette. This little paper has been perserved in the Joseph and Mary Melena Celeste Farough family Bible all through these years from July 3 of 1855 to the time of writing May 10 1972. This Family Bible was given to Joseph andMary Farough by a gypsy travelling through the County of Essex selling his wares. They used to give him meals and let him sleep in their home. In retourn for this kindness he gave them the big family Bible. After Joseph and mary's death this Bible remained inthe Farough homestead taken care of by his son Lawrence. Per Leah Farough interview. "Biographical History of Pottawattamie County, iowa pages 511 & 512. Nicholas LeRette, a prominent farmer of Pott. Co. was born in Canada, the son of Lewis LeRette who was born in lower Canada. He was Married to Eliza Delill, of French and Pennsylvania-German descent. In the family of Lewis LeRette were 5children that lived to maturity: Catherine, Margaret, Nicholas, Mary & Matilda. In 1852 Mr. LeRette came to Will Co. Ill where he lived until his death which occure in 1859 at the age of 52. He was a devoted Catholic and a hardworking and industrious man. Nicholas LeRette was about 3 years old when his parents went to Ill and after his fathers' death, he returned to Canada with the other children to live with his Grandfather Delill(Delisle) He remained with him one year and then went to Will Co Ill, his mother having married a man by the name of Gilbo in Canada, where they now live. Young Nicholas received but little education and learned farmine in early life. He remained in Will Co, Ill until 1877 when he came to Pottawattamie Co. andsettled on his present farm, which was then wild land. Mr LeRette was married Dept 3, 1874 in Will Co, Ill to Mattie Lasure, daughter of Wilson D. Lasure, born in Ross co Ohio and is of Pennsylvania -German desent. Wilson D. Lasure was marriedto Mary Bell and they parented 10 children: Mattie, John, Newton ,Jane ,Alura ,Nelson, Carrie, Benjamin ,Elisha ,Clara and Guy Raymond. After marriage Mr Lausre went to Ill settling on a farm in Will Co. Politically Mr LeRette was a Republicianand member of the Methodist Church." He was a soldier in the war of 1812 at the age of twelve years. He also learned the trade of a cooper. In 1820 he married Katharine Plhillips. Katherine was born in Germany, we do not know the date. She was brought to Canada as an orphan when she was just a child where she was raised by and English family in Bath Ontario Upper Canada. To this union was born two daughters and two sons. Peter Delisle Jr. was a soldier in the war of 1812 at the age of twelve years. ( Note by Jim Ellis- I question this but this is what she wrote) He also learned the trade of a cooper. In 1820 ( correction Oct 11 1824) he married Katharine Philips. Katherine was born in Germany,we do not know the date of her birth. She was brought to Canada as an orphan whe she was just a child where she was raised by an English family in Bath Ontario Upper Canada. To this union was born two daughters and two sons. Mary Melena Celeste born Sept 13 1821 Nicholas No date given Eliza Marie born Oct 13 1827 John Baptiste born Dec 21 1829 - Pierre Delisle and Catherine Phillips were living in Elizabeth Town (later Brockville) at the time of their marriage but the actual marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev. William Smart and witnessed by John Philips and John Smith across the St Lawrence River in Morristown New York. The marriage took place on Oct. 11, 1824. Rev. Smart was Presbyterian and the first minister of any religion to settle in the district of Johnstown. The referance fo this comes from the Ontario Historical Society Papers and Records , vol 5 ,1904.
