Thought i would update my post.
From the 1900 census i found that John C. DeLeon was born January, 1859. He had four children - William, Florence, Glenn, and Donald. In the census he has his parents' were from Kentucky and he was from Illinois. Later i received a copy of my ggrandfather's birth certificate, and it reads that John was born in Ohio. So, that is a contridiction to the census, but who knows!?
I feel less confident about any connection to Portugal, after further research.
Any little bit of info would be appreciated - it would help me continue to piece together my family puzzle.
