Looking for siblings, parents & ancestry of Robert Delap b. Mar. 2, 1803 supposedly in S.W. Va. section. Thought to have had a brother George. Robert marr. ca. 12/4/1825 supposedly in Wythe Co.,Va., but is not listed in Wythe Co.,Va. marriage records.
He marr. Elizabeth Turner b. 11/24/1799 Orange Co.,N.C., dau. of James Turner & Sarah Ann Brinkley who had moved to Wythe Co.,Va. ca. 1803.
Robert on 1880 Monroe Co.,In. census, says his parents were born in Ireland.
Robert & Elizabeth came to Monroe Co.,In. with the Turners ca. 1827, but are not on 1830 In. census, altho all their children born around 1830, say they were born in In.,
so maybe the family was missed by census taker? Robert d. 5/19/1885 Monroe Co.,In. but
there is no death certificate & his obit. doesn't give any family background info. Was Robert related to Wm. Delap who lived in Wash. Co.,Va. around 1800?
Any help or clues would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
