Here's some information that doesn't show up yet. Carmen Estela Merlano-Gutierrez > Erma Barela Merlano > Juanita Barela-De La O > Buenaventura De La O.
My mom says that Buenaventura was the first teacher in Doņa Ana and taught the violin. She says that one of his brothers was Severo De La O. I live a block away from the cemetary in Doņa Ana, NM and I walk the headstones looking for names.
My mom's dad was Felipe Barela. He and Juanita De La O (Daughter of Buenaventura) had 10 children (12 but two died) they are: Federico (Lico), Maria Lucia(Lucy)B. Telles, Aurelia(Relia)B. Barreras, Felipe, Henry, Jose, Samuel, Gregorio, Enedina(Dina)B. Lucero-Escareņo, Herminia(Erma)B. Merlano.
I can list all the grand children and maybe some great-grandchildren, and a few of the great-great-grandchildren if you need it.
