I didn't want to get into this, but FDR
was descended from the Jonathan line, who,
in turn was descended from the Huguenot
family de LaNoue (pronounced "Dee-Lanowee")
and whose coat-armor is the "Three Wolves
Heads" and has nothing to do with the Flemish
Lannoy family, except for a marriage or two.

Joel A. DeLano (not Delano) was my G2granddad's younger brother (the man that
compiled the GHAAHD (1899)). Mortimer Delano,
the self-styled "pursuivant-of-armes" that
contributed the "Royal" descent never stated
that it was proven. He said "I have sifted
and sorted, let others decide..." Basically,
the line is good, but there is absolutely
no proven connection to the Philippe Delano/
Delanoe/Delanoye who arrived on the Fortune
in 1621. Try the family of Francois deLaNoue,
if you care to pursue the European origins.
Don DeLano
