William DeLaney
Born 1840 Co. Tipperary, Ireland
Came to Honesdale probably via NYC circa
1850s. Employed by the Delaware & Hudson Canal Co., mentioned in "Carrying Coals To Tidewater" by Dorothy H. Sanderson, as was his son Thomas (1868-
1939). Married to Mary McKeon circa 1865. Killed @ Rosendale, Ulster Co., NY in 1884, interred in Honesdale. Sons Partick (1866), Thomas (1868), William (1876) employed by the Erie Railroad. Thomas moved his Delaney family to Port Jervis, Orange Co., NY 1894 where his descendants remain today.
