The National Archives info is most probably right.
The John Delaney that was in Alphonso Claiborne's Regiment was either the oldest son of my William or his brother.I have a preemption testimony in Adams county court where he states that he arrived early February 1803 from South Carolina and settled on The Middle Fork of the Homochitto River. There are a few records in SC showing John and William disappearing around 1800 to 1803.
I have both men's transcribed service records, but not the originals.
Both men disappear from records around 1817 to 1820. I think they went to Monroe county in Choctaw Chickasaw territory to serve in the Indian Removal and may have died there.
JW came later from Tennessee or Kentucky.I have the will of JW's father somewhere, and it lists all of JW's siblings.
Do you still have an active Ancestry account?I saw you haven't logged on in over a year.
